clearing flooding

I am a new RX7 owner (91), and the car was running fine until I managed to flood it. I tried pulling the plugs, giving each rotor a couple of squirts of oil, turned it over a few times, and then reinstalled the plugs. Did not start , so pulled plugs again, and they still have quite abit of gas on them (did not give it any gas when turning it over). Can anyone give me ideas what I might have done wrong in how I dealt with the flooding? ( i did pay attention to plug wires, they make it pretty easy with t1 t2 l1 l2, assuming 1 is the front rotor & t means top)
