clearance under stock convertible

What is the clearance height on a stock convertible? My '88 will not go over the speed bumps around town, I drug on the first one I went over and I went over the second one doing about 3 mph and got hung on it. I had to get out of the car and push it forward till the rear tires were touching the speed bump then get back in to drive the rest of the way over it. I have stock tire size and as far as I know the stock springs.

Either they have very tall speed bumps on that side of the state, or your stock springs are sagging badly.

So do you have any numbers on the clearance measurements from the ground to the lowest point on a standard convertible?

Measure from the ground to the highest point at the center of the wheelwells. Mine runs 25" front and 25.5 rear. I have lowering springs and 16" tires,( though the circimference is within 1% of the oem 14" rims).

If you are much lower than this, your springs may gone.

Sorry I can't offer any help, but that is funny as hell.

I think stock COUPE ground clearance is 5.8", so I'd imagine that the vert would be similar.

I'd say... the road engineers in your town... are dumb!

25 1/4 Front, 25 1/2 Back

Vert with 215/45/17s all around. I never get hung up, rarely scrape anything. Springs are original.

The speed bumps I drug on are in parking lots that I avoid now. The one I got hung on was at the post office. Most other speed bumps around are the reverse kind that are dips in the road I go over them just fine.

I just measured and I am at 25" front and back. The car does sink a lot when I get in that is another 300lbs. I will have to get someone to measure when I am in the car.

replace your struts all around. Springs are most likely toast as well. I would tell you to get the kyb agx's and vert RB springs that I have but I am changing to a full coil over system. Adjustability is where its at.
