Question Clear Coat my vics?

So somebody told me that i should clear coat my wheels and im looking for more info on this. apparently my wheels will oxidize if i dont and once cleared i wont have to polish them every wash to make them nice and shiny. was wondering if there is any good clear coat in a can that i can do myself without having to send them to a shop. Also what prep work do i need to do? can i clear them just after polishing them or will the clear not stick? Wheels are crown vics btw and will include pics.

I honestly wounld'nt clear your wheels, as long as you take good care of them they shouldnt oxidize.

I wouldn't clear coat either, just use a good sealer on the lips and clean/polish them every 2 weeks(ish).

It's personal preference, really...

It can't hurt to clear coat them.

Clear coating a polished surface is tough (the shinier the surface the less "tooth" for the paint to grab hold of), so if you don't want to pay a pro, just leave it alone.
You should be able to maintain a reasonable look with polish and wax and you won't have a peeling clear coat to contend with.

My rims have polished lips, pain in the butt to maintain but worth it IMO. Clearcoat on polished aluminum would be a disaster, also IMO.

I bought some 3m stuff, comes in a 3-1/2 inch round tin, Nice cotton cloth, few swipes after the rain and they look perfect again.

Now if your out in the **** like snow/road salt and lots of muddy rain, yeah, scuff and clearcoat.
