Cleaning AFM?

anyone know if there is a way to clean/maintain/condition the AFM. this is for an S5 Turbo.

what would be best for cleaning the plastic on the insides and outsides AND what would be good for the spring, since it is a suction type NOT the flapper type. since it is pretty much 15yrs old and probaly not running to its best ability. i'd like to know if it could possibly make a difference. thanks in advance guys

One of the major aerosol spray carb cleaner companies (I forget the manufacturer) now makes a spray specifically for AFM's. I know Pep Boys sells it, and the other major chain stores probably have it, too. Just ask for the AFM spray cleaner.

sweet! do you thing it helps to lubricate the spring in the plunger???

I'd imagine that if it's a solvent, it probably isn't a lubricant, too, but that's just a guess on my part. The stuff comes in a red can - I wish I could remember the name of it! They have a big ad in the current Grassroots Motorsports magazine. Or maybe it was last month. Pheeew. Pretty good memory, huh?!

CRC makes it but it is mostly for hot wire AFM but i couldnt hurt

Why do you think the AFM needs to be cleaned? They're pretty much a maintenance-free item.
