I didnt think about the idea that the Alt would not exatly DIE, but degrade.

Well I just did it.
I bagged off the alt., leading/trailing coils, clutch/brake master cylinders, airbox, and battery and put a towel over the belts.
I blasted the **** out of all the METAL pieces and used real low pressure on other old grimey things. Started right up and battery was at a steady 14V, as usual. Everything is MUCH cleaner and looks good. Finally my plastic/hoses are BLACK again instead of dust gray-brown!! You can see "Mazda 13B" on the side of the housings again (by oil filter).
