Clean BAC or get new one?

I think my bouncy idle at and near start up is my BAC. Should I just clean it, or buy one at a junkyard for $10? Anyone have any advice on this? Im looking for ease, speed, reliability, and convience for doing this.

Clean it, why pay 10 dollars for something a 2 dollar can of carb cleaner will fix? That is if its just dirty, if your getting funky voltage readings from it, then get the one from the j-yard.

From what I understand, cleaning the BAC is not very hard, I couldn't tell you first hand because I've never had to do it. I know there's a writeup on cleaning it someone on the fourm of on reTED's site. I guess if you don't mind spending an hour or two cleaning it you might as well save the 10 dollars, plus there might be the chance that the junkyard one is pretty dirty too.

Test it for resistance. I belive anything over 12.7 ohms is screwed. Mine is at 13.5. Cleaning it won't do ****.

Why don't you just check it first. Run 2 leads from your battery to the connectors on the BACV and you should hear a click. If you don't, cleacn it. Also do the resistance check. All of this is in the FSM, which you should be able top find all over these forums.
