I think I may have a set of chromoly axles for a second gen. Does anyone have the measurements so I can make sure?
they were orginally purchased for a 3rd gen but are a bit too short. Thanks!

Don't have measurements, but I have yet to hear anyone busting a Turbo axle. I've seen 3rd members (pumpkin) bust, trannies bust, and the ocasional drive shaft universal blow out, but not a TII axle. OEm are fairly robust. But if you already have a set.... nice reasurance.

All were on the drivers side of my turbo vert.
Yes, they were TII halfshafts and a full drivetrain.
The car was very low and with the new Turbo setup, I guess it was to much. What happens is when the car is under squat, the distance increases between the two cv joints and the bearings 'pull out' of the inner cv cup and they rotate along the outer edge of the cup. In doing so, the snap the retaining clip and round the edges makeing it easier to do next time. The car still drives if you don't get into it, but if you try to get going to quick, it makes a very violent feeling and sounding experience.
I eliminated this problem finally by raising the car enough (which eliminates some of the distance induced by squat) and stiffening the shocks up in the rear.
I went through this process a four times before I raised it enough. Each time it lasted a little longer until I got it back to about the stock ride height.
I think there is something else fishy going on under the car, but I cannot figure anything out.
Many cars with more power and just as low have not had this problem.
I haven't been able to find chrome moly axles for TII's anywhere. Carl Byck says he can get some but I haven't heard back from him.

http://www.driveshaftshop.com/item135656.ctlg and there is a write up on where to messure too. The spot is local to me and they made ford to mazda hub axles for me 300m good for about 800hp. They have an 800 number and will have no issue explaining where to take messurements.
