Choosing a bodyshop?

I'm going to get the dents and dings taken out of my TII and probably get it painted at the same time. Does anybody have any tips on how to select a bodyshop. Questions to ask? Things to stay away from?

TIA,

Henrik

I don't know any good questions to ask, except can I see some of your work (cars at the shop not pics) you can tell a lot from this

Things to look for
Overspray(onto windows lights etc...)
Knell near a front corner of the car and look to the rear. You can detect small waves, dings easily this way

I'm sure there are more but those are a few.

Best to luck JT

if you go to a bodyshop and they quote you a very low price for a paint job, remember you get what you pay for. i work at a body shop and it varys in price for a paint job, tell the body shop exately what you are looking for in a paint job and ask what to expect from there paint job, that way if they tell you it will be slick and free of trash then they will usually up hold the part and if they dont then point out any blemishes and ask if they can remove them.

I just recieved my car back from a body shop. My poor car was hit all along the drivers side by a crazed senior citizen. Anywho, the guy did more or less $2000 worth of damage. So I take it to a body shop close by where I work. The guy there was really trying to butter me up, so I let him do the work to the car. Little did I know about some bizarre vendeta he has against where I work, so he completely massacered my car. Overspray, broke my fender, headlights now point straight up in the sky, ruinated my roof, painted on the inside of my car for no good reason, destroyed my breaks, did not even fix the door, and the list goes on and on! The worst part is that when I paid him it was a Friday, it was raining and I couldn't really tell if he had messed it up. He has the guts to give me a gift certificate to Applebee's, one free car wash and then proceeds to send me a thank you note for my business. I want to punch this guy soooo bad. Anywho, just be careful who you take it to. Try and avoid the guys who act like they're trying to sell something. They're the worst.

Yah, I hear you - that's been my fear is that they'll do a crap-*** job or worse. I started out by visiting a few shops, prices were anywhere from $1400-$2200CDN for a full paint with dent/ding removal, some places spent as little as 30s looking at the car - I could just feel the shortcuts coming at those places. I'm going with a place recommended by a guy at work - we'll see how it goes...
