chips! holes! rust! oh my!
Yea, I had some bad rust spots on my 86 BASE.... so I took my dads dremmel and some sand paper and ate those rust spots right off... Some were pretty big holes... others just surface rust...
Well I bought some Bondo and filled in the small holes good, and acually got one of the big ones real good... sanded them smooth as my butt (it's pretty smooth! trust me on this one) ...
Here is my problem... I got some spray on primer, and sprayed on a couple coats... Then sprayed the paint on (2 coats) and now it looks OK, but you can see where the old paint stops and my paint job begins,, like the old paint was thicker...
how can I fix this? Feather it out or whatever.... body work SUCKS and I'm learning =) Either way, MY JOB looks WAY better than RUST job .... but I'd like it to be perfect!
Thanks for any help you can give me guys!

Filling rust holes with body filler is a bad idea. The hole will be there again in a year. The rusted area must be cut out, and new metal welded in.
As for your painting issues, feather the new paint into the old. After a few weeks it should fade and match pretty well.

how do I "feather" it into the old? use super duper FINE sand paper? or grab my 12 guage and shoot down a local bluejay.... and acually FEATHER the paint? =) or ?...
and even though the filler may be gone in a year or so.. I stopped that rust from spreading! it was getting worse and worse and I couldn't stand it anymore! car may be 15 + years old,.. But I want it looking closer to new =)
(doing body work SUCKS, I don't have the patience to do it great =) I don't think I could do that for a job.... ) why didn't they just make the whole body out of fiberglass or whatnot? no rust worries =) (I'm sure there is a perfectly good reason, most likely cost)
Thanks a TON for your help!
