chipped paint on bumper skin
it's been about 3 years since i got my car painted, and my bumper skin has all these little nicks from gravel and whatever else gets kicked up off the road. i used some nice dupont paint, so it wasn't some cheap paint job. i have a kouki bumper that i'm going to get painted to replace the zenki one, but don't want to have the same problem with.
anyway, my question is does anyone make some kind of clear bumper cover for our cars? or what do you guys with new paint jobs do about this?

The bumpers should be prepaired properly then painted with paint containing elastomers. Most shops spray the bumpers with same paint as they use on the body, and it just isn't resilient enogh to endure the flexing of the bumper or objects striking the painted surface.

chipping is inevitable for daily driven cars but the extent of it is the issue here. many new cars come with crappy paint...the 350Z stinks and ours is chipping all over the nose (while our veilside lip and the new carbon hood that WE painted at the shop have been fine). try not to follow people too closely on the road, the 3M clear coating works. we had an Audi S a couple years back and it chipped a LOT on the nose. it was yellow and after a few thousand miles there were a ton of black chips, it looked terrible. you'd expect more from a 40K car.
