What's the trick to be able to post a full size picture? The only picture that I could post was a shrunk down version. I see people that post large good quality pictures all the time. What gives.

Brett.

You couldn't extend It further down and add a plate to draw In more air?

This Is what I mean.

I'm In the middle of this right now.

Damn! That must work great. All the snow should drop the intakes temps down low! All I need now is it to snow here!(I think it's snow?)

Anyways. Isn't there AC/lines and coolers there?
May have to extend it a little more up front with another bend or something.

Somebody else has that same setup, but with a heat shield around it though. Looks good though. I love seeing people get creative with their intake systems.

That's the checkpoint motors setup, pretty damn expensive! I'm also going to be working on mounting mine somewhere up there

Would it be hazardous having your intake down by the oil cooler? I mean I think there would be alot of water/snow/dirt/badstuff that would ruin your filter

i like keeping my filters behind the front wall myself, you can duct plenty of cool air to it. putting it in front is just asking for it to have rocks and crap tear it open. reminds me of those ricey front mount intakes that look like an intercooler with only one pipe going to it.

that is why you have an filter. And it is not going to be too bad, not many people that really get into modifying their RX7s drive them in the rain/snow or go off-roading in them.

look at your front bumper, tell me how many chips are in it. look at your a/c condenser, tell me how many rocks are in it. the best bet to shield it would be to just put a metal plate in front of it. it'll still get all that air you want, but deflect all the poo poo

I don't have any chips in my front bumper or in my a/c condenser. I see lots of people that do have that, but for some reason I am lucky enough that I do not have any. I really think the air filter would be fine without any protection - think about it, our radiators are not destroyed by driving.

I like the lower setup better. When I see the way Bruhman has it done, I hafta wonder about how much hot air you are pulling in at idle, being so close to the rad. obviously this changes once you're moving, but does that inconsistency have any bad effects on the engine, fuel economy, anything like that?? think I am gonna go for the lower one and just put a mesh screen on the front.

Is that's scotts setup? You could always put a mesh screen in there to deflect little rocks

Yes, that is Scotts. And honestly I wouldnt be worried about rocks. There is no mesh screen on the factory setup (or there isnt on mine anyways). And the stock plastic grill (which does dick all) doesnt protect the radiator.

Id rather have my cloth air filter get hit by a rock than a fin on my rad. No reason to try to protect the filter.

Good point. I'll be driving my sport through rain and snow with the filter up there when I get it setup, so, we'll see how it acts! I guess it's a natural way of water injection? :-D

Without A/C, makes this all the easier to mod.

Good point on modded 7's driving In snow/Rain.

Oil Cooler still has plenty of Cooling.

As for chips or foreign debris hitting up the setup, I'd be more concerned about the Radiator or the Oil Cooler getting banged up.

My proposed setup will allow my Air Filter (AF) to sit rather high. Doing this will not expose the AF through the Rad opening. The AF scoop will.

Ive been thinking of taking my passanger water fluid bottle out, and running my intake pipe down thru there. Then cutting out part of the brake vent so it vents air to the filter, plus doing whatever else I can to optimize air flow into that region. Havent looked at the bumper setup yet, just thinking about it. It would be shielded from any debris, water, have a fresh cold air supply.

Hi what kind of filter is that? K&N? what part number is it so I can order it? I am also thinking about a shield duct combo that would act like ram-air, it would go in the bumper opening and would have a rectangular shield with a wedge scoop. I will try and make some pix up your you all later. But right now I am interested in the part number for that filter anyone know it?
