Check out my purty calipers

Ok my crappy single piston calipers up front are going bad and I decided to upgrade to the 4 pots. I work at Kragen and found out I can get the rebuilt 4 pots for only $30 each. So far here is what I got, I only got one and am waiting for the other to come in tomorrow as well as the pads. Then I am gonna get the brake hoses as well although I've heard you don't need them, but some say you do.

I decided to paint them blk and white to keep the blk scheme I got going on.

For the paint I used some Gloss Blk engine paint and some clear cloat. I did the white mazda part by hand which was hard to keep my hand steady while friends are surrounding me and yelling at me so I f*&( up. But yea lemme know what ya think of my first type of paint work.

I believe the clearcoat will heat up and get brake dust melted in... Hopefully that doesnt happen and everything works out for you. looks nice though!

ooh man I guess I have an identical twin fc out there.

Yea the clear coat wont heat up and get stuff in there. It's suppose to withstand up to 500 degrees. So, I have no worries

It looks good, it looks better if you just paint it black and then sand the paint off the MAZDA, I just painted my rotor housings like that, looks sweet...

At regular price at Kragen they are $37.99 and there is a $50 core charge. I had two extra single piston calipers sitting in my garage and used those as cores so I didn't have to pay the $50. I get a %25 discount so really I paid a lil less than $30 for each. I must say I'm very satisfied.

And those are stock replacement calipers or aftermarket? They look good by the way. I might have to swing by Kragen and pick a set up for myself. Got to love the military discount.

Those look really nice. I bet you could do those letters better though. Maybe if you just sanded them down for that brushed aluminum look?

They are stock but remanufactured. I'm cheap and for $30 a pop it seemed like a great deal.

Yea the letters could've been done better but while I was at work my buddies were messing with me the whole time and I messed up a little. I dont mind too much though cause when they're on the car you wont be able to notice as much.

Oh Darksider I can't PM you, but yea I live in AC and travel from Vallejo to Napa a lot with work and school. I go to the college in Napa.

nice deal man...

I painted a set up black a while ago...for the name though I just took some 400grit paper to the raised lettering when the paint was dry...

it knocks off the high spots, hit it with some autosol and you've got a shiny MAZDA name without the steady hand worry of painting it on...

good job though bro!

now, I know it is totally unnecessary, but can the 4 piston be retro'd on the rear also? Just to even out the appearance? Has anyone done this?

HAHA I cleaned a full 13b for rebuild at work when I was working at Oreily's.

Yea the 4 pots on rear would take fabbing. I plan on trying or dual single caliper on the rear.

I cleared mine but only street drove the car and no issues at all.

I need to put these brakes on my car.. IF I go buy these calipers what do I need to do to get them to fit on my 4lug brakes? I have stainless lines right now. Do I need to buy hardlines? And arent the 5 lug 4-piston brakes have larger rotors???

I def need 4 pot calipers before I hit the track.
