Exclamation Check engine light & jerking...

I was out driving a bit ago and all of a sudden my check engine light came on and my car started jerking and losing power if I went to hard on the throttle. I pulled over thinking it was the dreaded OMP failure and put some 2-cycle oil in the gas. I then goosed it over to a parking lot, turned it off and remembering the symptoms my car exhibited when my TID was loose and my AFM cable was off, prompted me to check both of those connections and push them in more securely. I then started my car and the light was off and that jerking nor the check engine light come back on.

What do you guys think it was? Should I check anything else out? I remember there was an easy way to check engine codes, can someone post that?

there is a single green connecter by the leading coil. stick a wire in there and ground it. now turn you key to "ON" and watch the check engine light turn off and then start to flash. a long flash is 10, a short flash is 1. it will repeat itself.

so long, long, short, short, short. whould be 23

Same symptoms - for me it was leaks in the air intake system. Car was enabling either more fuel or fuel cut because of it.

well, I got a #8 error which is the AFM, but it was just due to the cable being loose. I just pushed on it a little bit and all was well.

But in checking my codes I discovered I had a 27 for OMP issues...and now I'm afraid to drive my car. SHould I just run more premix til I figure out exactly what's going on? I have an exam in an hour...

yes, put some premix in. it can't hurt. disconnect the neg battery for a few secs to clear the codes. and see if they come back after a drive.
