cheap FMIC?
ive been wondering on making a cheap front mount. would 2 s5 top mounts side by side work as a front mount or would it provide alot of lag. i would take one and put the other one upside down and create a elbow to connect the two on the same side then run piping from the opposing sides to the turbo and manifold. any suggestions. this would be a cheaper route since i can get the top mounts cheaper then purchasing a front mount.

I got a old school Greddy for sale it doesnt have the original pipes but has other pipes to make it work, needs a BOV and one of the injector holes needs pluged or you can put a BOV on it like I had. $$$300 SHIPPED

You can find decent front mount intercoolers on ebay for very cheap (under $200.00). Bar and plate at that. I bought one months ago and cost me more than they do now. A friend bought one similar to mine on ebay for 129.00 plus shipping from some place named smartbuyonline.
The funny thing is when I was shopping around, all the performance stores I went to were selling the same exact intercooler for 400.00 - 600.00 before I realized I could get one for 199.00 which is what I paid for mine.

Considering the average price of a decent front mount intercooler right now is $300~ish, I wouldn't consider a $300 intercooler "cheap".
If you're looking at going cheap simply buy another top mount from here and have them brazed or welded together in parallel. It's what I'll be doing. The FC's top mount is one of the most efficient top mounts you'll see out there and it's not exactly small for a stocker. Two of them in parallel, welded propperly, will work just as well as your typical $300 core.
Biggest benefit? I'm building mine for $35...$15 for the intercooler, $5 for the shipping, $15 for the aluminum scrap sheeting, and $5 for the braze.

Just get the GReddy kit - when you've finished making your own, you'll be close to the cost of a the GReddy and the quality will most likely suffer.
Try to find one second hand to save a bit of cash.

the greddy kit is like 1000 bucks allmost, you can find the old skoo greddy trust kit used on ebay for around 400 generally.
i find it cheaper to get a universal front mount and work from there,
200 for large intercooler, then <60 for like 2 ft of silicone hose (you cut it into cupplers!) buy some hose clamps <30 bucks u can order from summit racing, a bunch of ubends and straights and u can cut them up and have pipe for under it for under <100
so thats 400 for a big one with brand new pieces cheaper hten greddy, tho i will admit im not 100% how efficeint the ebay IC core is, but it has to be better then stock! for sure

And I must say that that looks better than two top mount welded together. Oh, and on the effiency topic "If the Greddy is the most efficient then the ebay unit will surely be more efficient that the two welded top mounts and once again it will look better toooooooo.

Just the angle. When I was researching my install I found these pictures that made up a visual representation of what needed to be done when I did my intercooler install.
