Charcoal Canister Removal OK?

I have read a lot of other threads regarding the removal of the charoal canister and how to cap the lines but is anybody positive on its function of filtering the gas fumes and the way to cap off the lines...
1. would it be better to take it out and run the two hoses together (basically just removing the canister and routing the lines together).
2. Or take out the canister and just cap the lines (everyone seems to do it this way, why not the first way in number 1)
3. Or after taking out the canister, leave the lines just open (which one person seemed to have done and said that everything is ok)

pull the canister and plu each line except the one to the fuel tank. Put a filter of some kind on that one.

Then turn the charcoal canister into a catch can.

i took my CC out and this is how i did it. the line going to the engine is capped, and the one going to the gas tank is vented into my front fender. however you can cap both just when you get gas, turn the gas cap slowly to let the pressure out.

or you can make the line that goes to the gas tank vent AT the gas tank and not in your engine bay.

so basically i can just have the line just routed somewhere with a hope or something, or i can just cap it. kinda dumb question, just making sure but the fumes arent flammable right...?

any fumes that come out of that line (gas tank side) will be gasoline fumes. You can't do much about it. If you plug it...it's that much more stress on the cap and tank, if you leave it open/vent...its that much more of a hazard.

YOU DON'T WANT THE STUFF TO GO INTO THE INTAKE UNDER HIGH VACUUM (IDLE).

that's why there is a purge valve !!!

It's actually a pretty good system and it directs the gas fumes where they belong (in the intake) when it is appropriate to do so.

I explain the evaporative system here:

Most cars have this system in one form or another. Why pple want to get rid of it , I am not sure.

Damn, that's what I'm saying. Just leave it there, its collecting fumes from the gas tank. It's not like its robbing horsepower.

If you leave it connected after doing emissions removal, eventually (within a week or two) it fills up and vents fumes anyway.

Mine is currently just vented in the engine bay. I'm planning to run a vacuum line from the vent down to the bottom of the firewall so they vent below the car, but I haven't had any problems so far, and it's venting far enough away from any ignition source.
