Changed oil on 87 TurboII, now it is burning a lot of oil at start-up???

Hey, yesterday I changed my oil and oil filter on my 87 TurboII with Castrol GTX 20W-50, and now I noticed it's burning a huge amount of oil(blue smoke) from my exhaust from when I first start it up, and it wont subside for about 10 or 15 minutes. It smells horrible, and it is very embarrasing on the street. It's not just a little puff of blue smoke, we're talking a good amount here, and it doesnt go away for about 10 to 15 minutes. At first I thought I filled my oil too high, put I checked it and it reads full, I'm not sure how to tell if it's higher than full. All I know is it never used to burn oil like this before, before I changed the oil it would puff a LITTLE blue smoke right when I first started it up, which I heard is normal, and it would only do it every now and then, and it would go away after a few seconds, not even enough to smell it from inside. Now, whether its hot or cold, everytime I start it up, it bellows blue smoke for a good 15 minutes, and then it gradually goes away. What the hell is going on here?? Thanks.

Holy ****, I just went out to check my oil, and it now reads LOW. WTF, I changed it yesterday afternoon around this time and filled it up full, and in one day it burnt almost all the oil I filled it up with when I changed it??? How could this possibly happen?? My car never had a serious oil burning problem like this, it suddenly appeared as soon as I changed the oil? What could have gone wrong since then?? I figured my car would run better with clean oil and a new filter, but now its worse than ever. It hasn't really changed the way it runs, it just bellows out a huge amount of blue smoke for about 15 minutes after start-up. Whats going on? I need answers ASAP!

hmmm

if you are smoking blue then chances are you have a bad oil seal and oil is seeping into the engine as we speak and then burning off...other than that you must have some kind of a leak for it to burn that much in a day

I know that their is a good chance that my engine is on its way out, but why would it start burning crazy amounts of oil right after I changed it? Why would that trigger an oil burning problem? BTW, Where is the OMP located and how do I check if it's working properly??

I really doubt that your engine would decide to blow an oil seal after putting clean oil in it. I would check to see that;
1: the rod that goes down to the OMP from the TB isn't stuck open (up)
2: make sure that the vaccuum lines that are going to the top of the oil injectors aren't broken. I'm pretty sure that the vacuum lines stop the engine from sucking the oilpan dry through the injectors. If one is broken it would use alot of oil.(I think)

I'm not really sure on #2. can anyone confirm?

No, a broken "vacuum" line to the oil injector will not cause excess oil to be sucked in. It would, however, result in dirty (non-filtered) air being sucked into the intake, which could cause real problems.

The OMP is located on the bottom front of the engine, a little to the passenger side from center. It has a rod attached to it, which snakes up behind a bunch of stuff to end up attached to the throttle body. When one opens the throttle, the rod is pulled up. When one releases the throttle, the rod returns to it's original position. If one of these 2 tests don't pass, it isn't working! In this case, the suspected problem would be something is holding the rod up (binding on something?) and that is causing the OMP to inject excess oil.

OK, Im gonna try and check out the OMP tomorrow morning. The thing I still can't figure out is why it suddenly started burning a crazy amount of oil after I changed it? If I over-filled the oil, would that screw something up internally and make it start burning a lot of oil as a result? As I drove it today I noticed that it is still puffing a lot of blue smoke like 15 min after startup, but it's a little more subdued than before. But the crazy thing is after about 15 minutes of driving, no blue smoke is in sight. Could it be that draining the old oil out could have cracked an oil seal if it was already worn? My car NEVER used to burn oil like this before I changed it this one time. What could have gone wrong?
