Got my wiper switch rebuilt and is now working on all speeds which is very exciting. But I've found another issue now which is that the wipers seem to have their automatic stop position about 1/2-3/4" too low. So at their lowest position one wiper blade is trying to sneak under the other wiper arm. Have spotted the wiper motor, but what's the best way to adjust the automatic stop position for them?

 

Remove the wiper arms, cycle the switch ON/OFF and reinstall arms.

 

That simple? Can I be dumb and ask what that will actually do (i.e. how it will sort out the automatic stop position)?

 

There is no adjustment of the "rest position" of the motor...it is what it is.
You simply place the arm(s) so they sit properly when the motor has come to a stop.

Try it, what have you got to lose?

I know, but the Mazda name is the "automatic stop position" according to the FSM page S-37.

 

I wish my wipers would park. They work on all settings, the timer on the int even works, but they stop wherever they are when I shut them off. I tried replacing the motor to no avail. I guess it is something inside the switch. How hard was it to rebuild?

 

Failure to park is one of the usual symptoms of a failing wiper switch. Mine had that problem before I replaced the faulty relay.

As for level of difficulty, guys who are highly skilled at soldering say it's a piece of cake. I'm sort of a beginner at soldering and I fixed mine myself, but not without some problems and having to jumper the board in the switch after I messed it up by overheating one of the relay pins.
