Change from Euro spec to American spec

Does anyone know how hard it would be to change a Euro spec 1990 convertible turbo to American Spec? Some cars cost way too much for it to be worth converting and shipping back to the states from Germany. Is this model an easy switch or not?

I know that when you take a car with European specs and want to ship it to the states there are certain conversions that you have to do. With some cars it's very expensive to do and others not. I just wondered if anyone on the forum know exactly what needs to be done to this model to convert it to American specs.

You might find the emmissions hard to get down to USA levels and then it depends on the State. Might be worth seeing the laws in your particular State and then go from there. Think the cost might be worth it if the car is your pride and joy but personally I would rather have a car that has not been subjected to the European roads and climate. Mind you germany uses Environmentally friendy de-icers on the roads so should be fairly strong underneath. if its totally standard then it should be fairly easy but then if its had any of the emmission removed then you might struggle.

Looks like he's in Texas, so it might be easier. The bumper reinforcements and all the other safety stuff might be a pain. The other thing to look at is the motor. The convertibles didn't come with a turbo motor in the US, but unless you're in a smog **** state, you might be able to get away with it.

Good luck with that. America is one of the hardest countries to get cars imported into.. My Grandfather left me a Ford Crown Victoria.. It was nearly impossible to get it transfered into my name from CANADA... So it was sold instead.....
