is the centerforce clutch any good

i was thinking of getting the centerforce dual friction clutch and pressure plate for my 87 t2.is this clutch any good. i am looking to have my car around 300-350 horsepower at the wheels. will this clutch support this. let me know if there are any better clutches and where to get them. i will probably be doing alot of autocrossing with the car and some drag racing too if it matters.

I had a Centerforce dual friction some time back - broke it in to the letter, and still had problems with it slipping under power.

IMHO, the weights are just a gimmick. Some people have had good luck, some people haven't. I'd get an ACT setup or the like - tried, tested, proven, and reliable.

Some people have had good luck, some people haven't

I'm one of the had good luck guys. But, to qualify, I'm a dailydriver stock drivetrane except for minor things like lightened flywheel, free flow intake and exhause.

My car came with a CFDF when I bought it. At the time I didn't know it. The rest of the car was stock so I assumed the clutch was a worn out OEM unit. All I knew was that it felt like junk, held for nothing, and had an inconsistant feel. I bought an ACT heavy duty clutch disk and heavy duty pressure plate to replace it with. When I did drop the tranny, there was a CFDF sitting there. It still had lots of life left in it, but I thought it was worn out going by feel alone. Once the ACT set went in, I never looked back. Buy ACT over CenterForce if given the choice and you'll be happy. CFDF is not worth it. ACT is well worth the money.

If you get it to break-in properly, it won't hold anything over 300bhp at the flywheel for very long...
