center/circle parts of rear tail lights, can they be detached from the turn signals?

for 1990 fc's, can the center/circle parts of rear tail lights, can they be detached from the turn signals light parts of the rear tail lights? there does seem to be a seam where you they detach but im not sure if you can detach them.

??????? do you mean, can you take the "glass" off of the taillight housing?? if so, yes...... although its very difficult..... most people crack the plastic cover.....

I'm going to be doing something similar to mine here shortly, I'm going to remove the inner layer which defusses the lights. I had a set of lenses that got busted at one point and it looks like it'll be a pain in the *** but once I do that and then have them tinted I think the look will be worth it. Besides the hot water tech. they show in the shop manuel. is there any other maybe easier way to heat the seals to?
