Question Center A/C Vent Question

I have an '88 convertible and I just received a stereo bezel from eBay to fit 86-91 RX7s. The new one is rubberized instead of the hard plastic like my old one (which broke). It looks like it will fit, but I can't use my old A/C vent because the new bezel has a divider right below where the vent is (my old vent assembly is taller and the new bezel did not come with the vent). I have the shop manual for the car and there are 2 diagrams showing both styles of bezels but no indication as to what models they fit, etc. Does anybody have a clue as to what's going on here? I think if I can find a vent to fit the new bezel I should be OK, but I need to find out what to ask for.

Thanks in advance ...

you'll have to find a vent from any 89 or newer, the coupe and vert vent *should* be the same.

yeah the 86-88 have a really plasticky and crappy radio surround. mine cracked in about 4 places until it finally just fell apart when I was removing it to mess with my radio

I was able to install the new surround, but I had to dremel a little of the plastic in the dash to allow the socket for the cigarette lighter bulb to clear. The old bulb socket mounted at the top and this one mounts at the bottom. Looks good now. I just have to get the new center vent and I'll be all set. The dealer wants $59.70 for it (I asked for an '89 model). Gonna check around, because I might be able to do better.
