CDI Ignition?
Allright all, I have been looking at ignitions latley. I know that everyone here is a big fan of the MSD 6A and the Crane HI-6, but I was wondering if anyone is running a MSD Blaster, or if that ignition could be run on our cars. Also what coils do you all recomend, I was thinking about using the Blaster SS E-Coil.
Secondly what all do I need. I have been reading posts that say you need one box for the leading and one for the trailing, I also saw a post that said you need 2 boxes for the leading plugs, on top of having 2 coils for each plug.
And about MSD RPM switches, do they have the problem where they operate at 2 times what they are supposed to like the Summit racing switches?
Thanks

Don't bother messing with the ignition system unless you have a VERY SPECIFIC reason to do so. The stock system more then enough even into very high (>400HP) power levels. Spend teh $500 on beer, and go buy a new set of plugs and good aftermarket wires.

Aaron, I am looking for a little bit better gas milage/starting and throttle response. And how well do the stock S4 igintions do at rev's over 8k (I am just trying to figure stuff out for my next project, either carb or MicroTech, probably a N/A 4 port).

The leading coils, fire at exactly the same time, so a single control box would be fine, but if you were going with an aftermarket coil, you would need either two, or one that fired two outputs.
The trailing coils (which really only help with emissions) fire individually and independently, so if you were hooking up there, you would need a coil and controller box for each.
But there is not much of a point to do that, since again it is only for emissions and the car will run fine even without the coils. There would little (like maybe 1/2 a Horse) to no HP gain to moding the trailing coil set up.

If you're talking about the "Blaster Ingition" (PN 5900), it's just a voltage stepper.  This is not the same as a CDI box.  A CDI box will consistently deliver better performance for the money.
