Question 1)Yep
Question 2) don't worry about it...no cat, no need for split air pipe.

Just consider the emissions laws in ur state first!

dude, go for stainless steel for sure. You don't want that mother to melt. Rotarys produce alot of heat. Besides, shell out the extra few bucks, and get a Bonez Racing Pipe. It'll do the same thing, except your car won't sound like ****, and there's no custom work to be done. everything comes pre-fabbed.

Definately go with stainless steel, but try to get a full cat (pre cat and main cat) replacement with a presilencer. You will not need the air pipe that goes to the cat anymore, but be sure to keep your air pump. That is what activates your 5th and 6th ports!

What color is your 'vert? How many miles does she have?
I have a white on blue '91 vert with 64500 miles

Melt?! Dude, mild steel melts at 2600ºF! If your exhaust gets that hot, you've got other more important problems than what your exhaust is made of...
Mild steel is fine for any road car exhaust. SS is good for looks and longevity, but you won't be able to see it and you'll probably sell the car before the MS rots, and MS is a lot cheaper.

EX810626 Bönez 2.5" Race Pipe with Presilencer (89-91 5-speed only) $150 from www.rx7.com

The Bönez Race Pipe and Presilencer Exhaust system consists of heavy walled 2.5" Aluminized mild steel exhaust tubing with an incorperated presilencer for noise reduction . This unit is a bolt up one piece system that replaces all the cats and pipes from the stock exhaust manifold to the stock y-pipe.

NOTE: This system is illegal for street use.

Yeah, in that case, wait until you drop in your new tranny. I don't think it will fit otherwise. (correct me if i'm wrong)

No, not even close. The dramatic increase then decrease in flow area causes a lot of turbulence. Get a straight pipe.
