Cat with no air pump... how much time before it dies?

Cat with no air pump... how much time before it dies?
Well, The split air pipe decided to take the connecting pipe on the main cat with it today, So now I have no air going to the cat. If I simply plug the hole, how long can I go before the cat dies? Any ideas there?
edit: cat has 110K miles on it.
