Cat Back Exhaust - crap fitment - ideas needed

Hiya chaps

i bought the cat back system from ebay ( SS auto chrome i think )

fitted it to the car - and its the worse fitting exhaust ever

it catches the rear bumper and sits very very very tight ( touching ) the underside of the car ( where the seat sits i think )

have any of you guys had a similar problems and if so - how did you sort it out

what makes it worse - is that the exhaust i took off was in pretty good nick but i gave it my mate for his as he was in desperate need - so i cant even put the old on back on

it runs fine , no banging and clanking - but i really dont like how it sits under the car

any ideas much appreciated at this point

Stu

Well, you get what you pay for. It is well documented on these forums that SSautochrome makes cheap junk most of the time. I'm not really sure how to fix it though. Maybe you could take it to an exhaust shap and have the move it around?

I got the SSAC turbo back dual system and one can hung about a half inch lower than the other.

What *I* did was to elongate (slot) the holes where the y-pipe meets the presilencer. I then rotated the y-pipe until both cans hung level and tightened the bolts.

I used a torch to slot the holes and smoothed up the mating surface with an angle grinder but I could see how someone could do it with different tools. Be creative.

Except that SSAC didn't make this exhaust; it's a Korean company called Motoria.

I think that's the best solution (something I have yet to do on mine). I already measured out each of the pieces of the exhaust and it's all symetrical. Just seems like the main flange for the cat got welded on wrong on their jig and no one has corrected it ever. Other than that, I am pretty impressed with the exhaust for the price.

Except it's sold by SSAC as their exhaust system. So as Sideways said, you get what you pay for.

thanks chaps - looks like its coming off and going in the bin

got my hands on a mega phone exhaust ( i think its a jap HKS one - not sure )

so gonna see if that fits - and that will make it drivers sides exit ( UK ) from the passenger side that i have now

i hate these cars with a passion - nothing is simple

well that exahust turned up - and yup that wont fit either

looks like the only exhaust that will fit is the one i gave my mate

hummmmm really not impressed at the moment

i cant belive doing a simple job like this would cause sooo much grief

it looks like the main car ( decatted ) is sitting off centre and therefore throwing every exhaust out that i try and fit

i just dont understand what its out of line - and whats more annoying is that i dont know if its been like this for a while or just happened ??
