Yeah but who has 600 for the hood and 1200 for shipping? Wasn't there a shop someone was talking about that was gonna make cold air intakes, cf hoods and other nice stuff that our cars are lacking? What ever happened to this shop'??? I would like one since mine is nice a steal which isn't the lightest stuff around.

I already have a mold for the stock turbo II hood. made my hood out of ultralight fiberglass. scoop is two inches taller than stock, stock intercooler connection. no latch, nor hood hinges, could be fabricated but not included. hoods could be made of carbon fiber but would be heavier and more expensive. problem is no one wants the same thing. need to order these in large quantities for the fiberglass shop to make them. if there are ten or more people who want a stock turbo II hood that has a 2" taller scoop and want to pay $600 -$700 plus shipping it can be done. all of them have to be the same no exceptions.

A lightweight hood is not worth $600-700 in my opinion. Sure you can save 20-30# off the front end, and its also high weight, lowering your center of gravity. But for me if i find an alluminum hood at a junkyard, ill buy it for $40, but I think one could spend $600-700 in a better place than on a hood. i.e. headers, mufflers, street slicks, suspension.

Just weighed my TII alum hood using the weigh myself then weigh myself + hood method (worked to +/- 8 oz on my cat yesterday according to vets scale). It was 20 lbs. I don't have my NA alum hood here, but it felt quite a bit lighter hefting it in my arms than the TII one. NA one has no scoop/sheetmetal rubber sealed duct or insulation; so I'd say 2-5 lbs less.
