Carbon Fiber Exhaust Bumper Protector

I would like to put some carbon fiber pieces here on each side of the car. My exhaust gets wayy too hot under heavy canyon runs and fast driving. Thus, my bumper melts and I don't want this happening when I get my new paint job done. Who/where can I get these made up? I just want to rivet them in there when they are made.

Yes I need one too. Or any thing to keep my rear bumper from melting.

I am going to find a place that does this and make up like 50 of them.

If I can't find it as carbon fiber, I will make them out of polished steel.

I could make you one, just give me the dimensions, and Ill cure it thin enough to flex into the shape you need. If intrested tell me what you think is a fair price. I could make them up within the next few days. BTW thats a great idea!

Carbon fiber is flammable and I dont think the resin will withstand the heat. What would be the benefit of doing this?

Aluminum riveted in place will look good. Not to mention its cheaper and more available.

Yeah. $20 is fine. you should know the size if you have an RX7! =)

gimme 4 if you can just in case one or two get messed up.

PM me for further info if you are serious.

Then what the hell are Carbon fiber/Ti exhausts doing out on the market then?

Also, the benifit would be your bumper not melting! =)

boostmotorsport check your PM.

That is not true... Seperate they are flammable, together they are not... Actually, they dont like to
burn even at extreme temps

I agree with RedFD - it might not be "flammable" (there are several methods of making a CFRP composite - epoxy ones are inherently non-flammable, but some of the others are), but it will melt.&nbsp CFRP composites are not heat resistant by any definition.&nbsp It sounds like the original poster wanted something "stylish" rather than functional.&nbsp There's a reason why all those bumper protectors are made out of metal.

What bumper protectors? The RX7 does not come with them!

I am asking if someone can make some up for me. Not if they are flammable or not! You guys do this in every thread!

They are offered in Japan.
I wouldn't bother going with a protector - I would tune the car to run a bit leaner to get rid of the flames or just extend the tail pipe.&nbsp Either or would drastically reduce the rear bumper getting damaged.

I don't get flames and I don't want my car to run lean. My car runs fine.

I want to make some of these up. Does anyone have experience doing this?

I had my exhaust guy put my tips a little past the bumper for that exact reason.

My car is low and the tip is huge so I cannot have the tip lower. I need a carbon fiber bumper protector from the heat of the exhaust.

And yes, a Carbon Fiber piece will protect the bumper.

RE Amemiya just turns the exhaust tips down 90 deg to the ground. Should set up a low pressure area at exhaust tip as well to reduce backpressure.

I made a cold air box out of Carbon and had no heat issues with it. I will make a few over the weekend.
