carb conversion related question...ive searched
ive got an 86 GXL that doesn't run worth a damn and the main engine harness is questionable at best (already had one engine fire that was electrical) so ive decided to ditch the EFI and go carb for now.
ive been messin w/ first gens for several years now so carbs are nothing new to me. i already have a couple webers and plenty of jets layin around so all i really need to buy for the conversion is a FPR and an upper manifold for the carb (which wont cost me more than $200-$300 total).
my main question is the ignition. even though i have a couple extra 12a distributors, ide rather not use them if i can still retain the second gen CAS ignition. so... does anyone know if i can still use the ecu to control ignition w/ all the efi stuff pulled out? does any thing have to be moddified to make the ignition work properly?
* on a side note, this motor will eventually find its way into one of my first gens once i get around to swapping in a TII motor, i just want to get the car to driveable status for the time being

damn, that sucks. i guess ill have to use the distributor... but luckily we first geners have found ways to use'em to trigger the FC's leading coil, that way the trailing is the only one that goes through the cap. oh well... its almost as good as the second gens ignition
