Car won't start, need help

OK, I like bougt this 88 RX-7 and washed the motor and went home and the next day it would not start at all. The car was running great before and now it's like dead. When I go to start nothing happens, just the power comes on and that's it. There is no sign of an attempt to even try like as if there's no motor. Also the whole compartment is dry as can be now. Any replies would be greatly appriciated. Thanks in advance.

First things first. Buy a haynes manual. These are very handy at troubleshooting. ---Ren

WOah!! No need to get hostile!!!

Lets look at your problem..Have you pulled your plugs and looked at them? My guess is that they are SOAKED in gas.

Dont know why you are flooded, but thats what it sounds like. Something may have gotten wet, but if the car is trying to start, might just be flooded.

Try the easy way...Pull the plugs, pull the EGI fuse. FLOOR the car and crank for 10-15 secs. Dry the plugs, put them back in, put the fuse back in, and try to start,.

Ahh, caught my attention. From my understanding I would asume the rotary would be the same as a cylinder motor and dry up after time. If so the car has been sitting a good 2 years and has had time to dry.

Another question is where are the fuel pumps located on this car? I know the gas was low and I put some more in and was wondering if it's an electric fuel pump located in the tank. By any way are the RX-7 fuel pumps weak and go out easy or just under lack of filling up and running on Emtpy. Are you able to hear the fuel pump turn on with just the key in the on position with out starting? Thanks.

Leave a rx7 sitting for 2 years and it will flood worse and a few other problems will pop up. All very easy fixes. Rotaries arent piston engines, dont try to compare the two.

Up near the steering column you will see a black relay, with a yellow harness connecting to it. There is 5 or 6 wires coming from this harness. Take wire cutters and cut the black/white wire (its next to a blue/red wire) about 3in away from the harness. Then take 2 lengths of wires, the proper connectors and send each end of the b/w wire to a switch. Woila, you have a fuel cut switch. You can use this to unflood + as a theft deterrant.

hmmm....is this BS or the truth. Please don't mess with me, I'm new to the car and need it running. Are you sure this will unflood it or will I have to do what J-Rat said. Also where can you get this switch you're talking about? Thanks.

What he is talking about is the fuel cut switch, and its not bullshit. However if your car doesnt normally flood, its not necessary.

Just pull the plugs and get them dry, then disable the pump (the pump is located in your gas tank in the back, but you disable it by pulling the EGI fuse unde your hood). Floor and crank the car, to get all the gas out of it. Then put it all back together and try to start it.

Then get some new plugs..

If it still doesnt fire, we may have to look elsewhere.

Before assuming Flooding, did you take the time to cover the essentials when you washed the Motor? ie. Alternator, Battery Cables, Open Air Filter, Coil Packs etc?

Ahh....I don't remember it was two years ago, but I don't believe so. I believe it was just washed without nothing covered up. Well today I'm going to try the flood deal and see if it works.
