car wont start

car wont start

I have a 88 GXL and it was carbon locked but i just got it free and put everything back together. I replaced the plugs, air filter, oil filter, fuel filter...the works. when i try to start it, it hesitates then winds up to 2000rpm then dies. any ideas??? please help!!!

Check TPS to see if its adjusted correctly.

I'm still a rookie but if that doesn't work check the fuel filter and pump. Mine was clogged and had the same symptoms. Also I had the injectors cleaned and flow tested. Sorry just saw you changed the fuel filter but I was refering to the sock in the tank.

Ya, he mentioned he replaced the fule filter already so thats ruled out.

Might want to look at your AFM too.

Ill check the TPS tonight, I still gotta check the fuel pump. Is it possible that its a compression problem? blown apex or warped housing maybe???
