car won't start.........
hi guys
car won't start. i've searched and found alot of post on the subject.
tomorow i'll do a compression test, but today i have spark and fuel. i put in new plugs the old ones were only a few months old but were black and had carbon on them.
88 na, no air pump no cats blocked off acv wired ports open. shouldn't the car run a little lean since i took off the cats? the plugs were real black
this is my race car and it ran fine 2 weeks ago and i started it and ran around the neighborhood and all was good. went to start it and it just spins. could it die that suddenly? i heard when they go it can be but man i never thought that it wouldn't give a clue. it always started real fast, almost as soon as you turn the key it would pop to life.
if the compression is good should i try to push start it?
also could it have jumped timing? (i know it make me sound like a piston guy) but could it? you can smell gas after a few secs of turnig it over with the ignition, i took out the plugs and cranked it to get the gas out because i figured it was flooded by that point, maybe before who knows?
thanks
robert

thanks man
i was looking for some support cause i didn't think (i just hope it's flooded) was a timing thing, i just had all these bad feelings cause i'm broke since christmas and i'm like great cars down and no money for the 03 race season as it is right now. so i'm hoping like crazy it's just flooded. i found other stuff on the search but that link was much better because i did most of that but it didn't work. but from that link i now realize it may take more trys to get it unflooded.
thanks again
