car steams and wants coolant ! =\
heh, i was driving my 89 vert down tha road, it frequently wants me to put water in it... so i do.. i dont know why, but then the light came on and i didnt have any water, and i looked and the engine was steaming this time (i pulled over right away), and i was just wondering why it wants water so often, perhaps a leak somewhere? if anybody has any idea, thatd be coo~

Is there coolant leaking anywhere visably?? Check if it is leaking from the overflow bottle. Replace rad cap and thermostat with OEM mazda ones, and see if this fixes the problem.
I had that problem last night. Took me $12 bucks to fix. My upper radiator hose was cracked at one end. Simple to do. Just remember you should mix water with your antifreeze, I forgot the first time.
Two ways to go about this problem.
1)Start replacing things in the coolant system starting with cheapest/easiest and work your way up
2)Take it to a shop and have them do a pressure test on the cooling system and replace what needs replaced

Check the heater hose going from the block to the car. It's on the drivers side, near the plugs.
I had to drive mine with my leaky hose for a weak, and once in a while, after driving pretty hard, I would turn the car off to find steam/smoke coming from under the hood. It's probably the coolant dripping on the wires, or some plastic stuff.
I'd take care of this right away.
