Car starts and then dies

Ok i posted a question like this a few week ago but since then have been trying to get the car to run. Well if i start the car it will start and then die within a few seconds. But if i hold the gas while i start and rev up the rpms to about 2500 it will run but sputter now and again. I can rev it high, but If i let off the gas it will sputter and die. I have been told it was a vacuum leak which it might be, but i looked at all the small lines that i could get to without taking off the upper intake manifold.
But i was wondering waht i should do to check and see if it is a vacuum leak or if it is where to look first. Or maybe if it is something else. If i have to i will take off the uim but i would rather not since it wont be that easy to do since i have never took it off before on the rx7. And one other thing, the brakes dont work either but i checked the brake booster line but it didnt seem bad. The master cylinder is off right now and i am getting a new one since i think it is leaking. Any help would be grealy apprieciated, i need t get this car going since my other car wont last much longer

Wink TII start and die

I just had this problem on my 88 TII. The turbo snorkle was cracked. Idle was all over the place and wouldn't run cold without foot on gas. Sounds like a vacuum leak to me. Search on fixing vacuum leaks. There's many, many posts on the subject. Hope this helps.

what part of lousiville are you from? my dad lives by idlewylde apartments off of brownsboro.

anywho, the other option is the injectors sucking at life. the car at work was flooded when we got it, i unflooded it, drove it, had it die twice while driving around, and now it flooded out again. I think the injectors needed to be cleaned and rebuilt. Look into that option too. But vac leaks might be your bet if it keeps starting. if it doesnt even start then you need to go the injector route.

I ran into this problem with my 88' Turbo II too,
There was something wrong with my IAC, it still runs though, but it surges from 800RPM to about 1250RPM. Have you checked the MAF?

Ok i know i posted this along time ago, but right now i have the uim off and dont see any cracked lines or anything and i never heard a leak when it was running, all of the lines are soft too not brittle at all. But i was wondering i dont know if the air intake was on tight, would tha tamke a difference. I was changing the air filter and didnt screw that back on. (stock air system) I really need to get it running becuase my other car is about in the *******. I took they injectors out and are going to get them cleaned so i can mark that off the list.
This car has been sitting for awhile and i ma just starting to try to get it back into shape. But the first time i started it, it ran fine, idle'd good and everything. and then i started it and it would idle but sputter alittle, and then probaly a day or two after that it wouldnt idle at all and is sputtering good. Since it was sitting so long ( 4 years) could something have poped off or something. Also i have a turbo pump i got from someone else in there, is there any way this could be just fouled out plugs, i havent checked them cause i cant find my deep wells, but will soon. thanks for any help.
