car shuts off mid drift, wont start then will start randomly

When I would drift the car, randomly the fc would shut off, and I would try pop starting while rolling but with no luck. I also notice my rpm gauge not working when that moment occurs. As soon as my rpm gauge clicks back on and works, the engine will start instantly and the car runs normal. This has been going on more and more.

Now its to the point where the rpm gauge doesnt work at all, and my car will not start.

I think it has to do with the CAS or ignition coils.. I swapped the leading coil to see if that was the culprit, but no luck. All the fuses are fine..I checked all the wires connected to the fuse box, they are connected.. I have a spare CAS I picked up from a friend that i will try swapping and see if thats the problem..

anybody have any ideas?

My car is running on a s4 t2 setup..But, I think the issue has to do with something on the shortside harness.. The shortside harness is the same since I first got my car. s4 87 na.

anybody have pointers what to look for?

Everything else on teh gauge works besides the rpm gauge..

the tach gets its signal from the trailing coil, if it isn't working then the tach won't work. start from there...be sure the trailing coil is working properly.

Okay Il see if anybody has a spare trailing coil to try ..

That could be it. My car has been shutting of randomly mid drift once in a while. Now it doesnt work at all.

Tach is dead..and wont start.

Il try this..

Hopefully lucky 7 will have a extra trailing coil

so i tried replacing the trailing with no luck.

I searched along the shortside harness , and found that one of the plugs to the main relay was unplugged. Plugged her back in, and bam that fixed it..

slly... I cant believe that was the problem this whole time
