Car revs to 1-2k and then dies....?

Well I've checked for vacuum leaks and there are none... I went over everything and made sure it was firmly clamped.... I did find one leak and excitedly plugged it back in and made sure everything was in place... Then started the car up. It revved to 1k and died. I did it again, 1k and died........ So i did it again. 2k, then died. So I tried a few times more. Only change I ever got was one time it went to 1.5k then died.

I checked the afm and it's fine as well..... What else could be wrong???

The AFM is DEFINITLY plugged in? Open it up and make sure the connections on the inside are all straight, and securely plugged in. This is AFM behaivor..

Well now that I think back to it and am not in the rush of thinking the car will start... I didn't check the afm much. Just made sure it was plugged in fine. Taking it back to college tomorrow to check w/ a multimeter there and check out the inside. Got some pics there from Hailers on how it should be...... Just back a tcollege.

you are absolutely sure it has no vacuum leaks? have you tried applying light throttle to see if it will stay revved?

I had to remove my manifolds a couple days ago off my S5 vert to check for a coolant leak. Now that everythings back together, mine is doing the exact same thing. You start it it dies. I can however hold the revs when pressing the gas. My purge control valve has broken nippes. I think the vacuum leak their is causing my problem.

Nope, sorry. Forgot to point that out in the first post. Throttle makes no difference. Light, medium, or hard.

Ah hah. Got back here. Got out a multimeter... checked it.... Resistances are off. Then again the contacts are corroded some... so.... Gonna clean those some and see if that fixes it.

Ok. So the resistances weren't right. We cleaned off the contacts and measured again... They were then in spec... So I get back home this weekend and I put the afm in and plug it in. Get a battery in.... Start it. Guess what? Rev to ~1.5k and dies. Try again... SAME THING. Giving it gas produces no change. AGH.
