SO while going for about an hour drive on the highway my car (88 na vert) lost all its power and as soon is i put it in nuterally it stalled out, and would not start, back up. I popped the hood and a lot of smoke came out of the oil filler cap and the smoke smelt awful. When i turn the key it sounds like it wants to turn over, but just doesnt get all the way there. I hear a pop whenever it tries to turn over. I think it may be low compression, but not sure. My car did not over heat either and there was still oil in the car after all the smoke cleared and everything. Any opinions?

 

mine did the same when it lost an apex seal. along with a nice backfire thru the intake when i tried to start. Do a compression test

 

Yeh I'm gonna. I think its the apex seal, but ill do a compression test. I'm gonna try it by taking out the spark plugs and try it that way since I don't.have a tester right now.
