Car has been sitting
I found a 10th AE with a crap load of mods for 2k. Trouble is it's been sitting for 1 year so it don't run and it needs an engine cross member and LCA and steering knuckle. for 2k. I'm an AE86 guy so I don't know much about rotarys except the history because I wrote a 7 page essay about them. Does anything happen when the car is sitting for a year? Is this a good buy? Thanks for the help

You lucky bastard.
Did he curb one of the wheels or something?
Are you really in japan by the way? I was just wondering because i will probably have all of that stuff off of an 88TII within a few weeks to spare.
Just the fact that its a 10ae with a rebuild makes it worth way more than 2k.

No. I'm not in JP, I wish though.

But do if I do buy it is there anything special I gotta do to the engine to get it running?
most people say through some Automatic tranmission fluid in there and try to let it help seal the motor. I would drain all the gas then ad some good. One question is why is it sitting, was it broke first? Also search the unflooding technique on this site because sometimes they like to flood. Get a good strong battery and turn it over first without fuel to clear some of the ATF then put the fuel pump fuse back in.
ATF and good fuel are the important part and I bet it will start

If anything it may be flooded, search for flooding in the archive, the very worst situation you may have to pull start it. As long as the engine has compression.
Read the faq and the archive etc, it is a great deal of help.

Don't put ATF in it. use oil instead. ATF is bad just search for it and you'll see the battle where so people use it and lots of people say not you used it becuase it'll damage the seals.. even if it won't damage them much it's still not worth it. Also I think you'll need to replace it plugs after doing the ATF (but with oil) trick.
