Car cranks for a long time before finally starting up? Any help with this?

So every time I start my FC there is about 7 - 10 seconds of cranking before I get the engine to turn over. I have to turn the fuel pump off and on again to get it to turnover after about 5 seconds and it will not always start if I leave the fuel pump on.
The previous owner installed a fuel pump kill switch in the console with a flip switch

What can I do to help remedy this problem? I am getting tired of doing a weird cross armed start up every time I drive .

Perhaps the injectors are in need of cleaning or replacement. Perhaps the fuel pressure is not sufficient. Perhaps the coil/ignition system has room for improvement. And perhaps the engine compression is rather low.

The compression is really good from what ive been told. I havent actually looked at it though. How do I go about checking out the other items exactly? Is it somewhere in the FAQs?

You won't be able to tell about the condition of the injectors untill you removed them and had them serviced.

You can rent a fuel pressure gauge and compare to spec in the FSM.

You can somewhat tell from the color of the spark as to whether it is weak or strong.

And redoing/cleaning the grounds, especially the one on top of the engine might help somewhat.

+1 to checking the fuel pressure, sounds like your pump is being a lazy bitch.
