can't get passenger door open

a firend of mine can't get his passenger door open. he locked it and one day it just wouldn't unlock. window works and everything but can't open it from either side or unlock it with the key. does anyone have any ideas how to get the door open so i can take the door panel off to fix the lock?

Sounds like the door jamb spring broke.&nbsp This is a royal pain in the *** if it is.&nbsp You basically gotta rip the door panel off with the door still closed and pop the catch from the inside...

Had the same problem. The striker/latch plate assembly spring broke off causing my Drivers door to not open either. I managed to open the door via a homemade jimmy and a wedge. All this, without having to remove the door skin while jammed.

had almost the same problem the door lock is not unlocking all the way. so i open the panel, left the last screw that i can't reach. then from there i squeezed my hand inside the small opening that i did be. i don't want to break my panel then followed the lines and pulled it and it opened.. =)

Ah, my wrong. I can't say I have It anymore. It served It's purpose and then tossed.

What I used was a wire bander (flat sheet), half an Inch wide x about 10 - 12 Inches long. The edge of It had U-shaped cut outs to accomadate the diameter of the rod to allow a snug fit allowing me to pull the rod accordingly. The same wire allowed me to unlock my door when I had locked my keys In the ride. Before this, I was unable to open my door from the Inside or out when In the locked position.
