Cant Get My Flywheel Off!!

Ok i got the XACT lightweight flywheel, and a clutch kit from ACT also. and i went to take the flywheel off and no matter what i used, i tryed 3 different pullers and the flywheel would not budge. i tryed a big *** pry-bar and anything i can think off and it will not move. i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and has any solutions. please help!!

The flywheel is torqued at around 300ft lbs, so you'll need that at least to break it.

Point being, your honest to god best bet is to take the shortblock to like midas or some ****, and pay the guy 20$ to take it off with a pnuematic wrench.

You really need to use the search function as this has been covered a million times.

If you got the big nut off, then thread it back about 3 threads, and then use a big rubber hammer to hit the flywheel around the perimiter. Just keep working your way around the side as you hit it as hard as you can. It will come loose with a few good hits. The nut is on there so when the flywheel comes loose, it doesent kill you.

there is holes in the side of your flywheel. notice the hole from the tranny bolt.put a long bolt in the flywheel hole and take another bolt and stick it in the hole for tha tranny, now turn it until they hit eachother. there ya go torque it off.

OK this is what you need to do:

1. make sure engine is secure
2. get a hammer, bigger the better
3 start hitting it like its your old girlfriend who fucked you over and went insane because she couldnt handle the word NO

i tried everything else i broke 2 pullers messed up a bunch of long bolts so just HIT IT

I don't ascribed to most of the above advice, you could end up damaging the front thrust bearing by beating on the flywheel.

I modified my puller to fit the width of the bolt spread. Once I have the puller secure, I run the impact on it, not too hard, just nice and firm, then find a large rubber mallet or dead blow hammer and tap, while rotating the flywheel.

Half of the time the flywheel pops, while I'm walking over to get the hammer.

A little PB blaster may help also.

The tail end of the shaft where the flywheel sits tapers down toward the threads. The flywheel doesn't have to go too far before its going to be loose. Leave the nut on the shaft, but only spin it on a couple of threads. This way the flywheel doesn't fly across the garage when it does pop off.

Chinook, that means the guy in Japan drank topo much Saki and didn't feel like torqeing your flywheel!!! J/K

Cowwwzzz Welcome to the no search club, your now the president in absentia.

There is a Bosch "electric" torque wrench. Go buy/rent one. Or do what Balck plague sadi to do and take the motor (if you have it out) to someone that has a good torque wrench.
