Cant Decide FC or FD
i got a 87 t2 with a turbo-back, struts and audio/visual stuff done,
it needs: a lot of bodywork, its got an oil leak, vaccum leak, horrible idle, likes to shut off sometimes, needs paint, wheels look horrible and obviously after that anything i want to do for performance fuel, turbo - etc...
someone tell me y i shouldnt wait till winter and buy an 94 FD in mint condition
im really trying to decide
FC
or
FD

True dat.
I'd say if you're not worried about forking out some cash, get an FD...if you are worried about forking out the cash FC's are, for the money, fast and affordable...but if you're ever going to sell it, they're not worth very much.
FD's, if you're ever going to sell it...as long as it's in a running condition, you can expect to get 12-13k out of it.

if you cant get a simple t2 running straight, an FD will be your worst nightmare. i say keep the TII, figure it out, understand how it works, gain some turbo rotary experience, then step up to the FD. OR, you can just find a competant mechanic around you and pay them a large sum of money to keep your FD maintained.

I like both but honestly the money you would fork out for an FD you could get your FC looking nice and running faster. I like both and want an FD as well as having my FC. I am just greedy though.

porsche would be nice but not to most people on this forum,
but i just need to do so much to mine and dont have the time/patience/experience
but if i take out a loan for an fd i guess i could take out a loan to have everything done on my car but
i just love the FD
im tryin to make a list of things and prices to make me happy with my car
and see if the extra money is worth it for an FD
atleast i got some time to decide

here's some real advice...but its got nothing to do with which car to buy.
Don't take out a LOAN for a f***ing car. Why?
1. Ever hear of interest?
2. Ever hear of a guy buying an FD...driving it for while...and selling it for more what he paid?
3. If you have to make loan payments for an FD - how the hell will you afford to maintain it??
I realize that any venture into an RX (building for power especially) is money losing proposition...ask me how I know...but on top of all that, you would pay interest to a bank just so you can drop more money on what you bought with the loan? It really doesn't make sense.

If you've got the money in hand buy the FD. If not, stick in your price range, you'll afford the FD one day with that mindset. With the other mindset, you'll have the FD now, it will get re-possesed in 8 months and you'll never afford anythign else in your life.
- a little extreme but you get what Im saying.

personal preference. my friend has an fd and i would love to have it just because its got about 400 horses but i love my fc because i think they have more character. ive noticed that parts for fc's are a good amount cheaper. he also has alot of problems with it. mines an 87 and the only problem i have is it keeps slipping out of time. but thats it. he paid 12,000 for it and has pue 8000 into it. i paid 1300 for mine and ive totaled that all i want to do will only cost 2300. so its really what you want and defiantely your budget.
