Cannot rev past 4000 RPM.
Cannot rev past 4000 RPM.
I have a 90 N/A and today the second time I started my car it started fine, but right when I got to about 4000 rpm, I usually shift at a little over that, the engine would not rev any higher. The engine felt like it was going to cut out and die , but when I would let the rpm drop it would drive fine and continued to drive fine below 4000 rpm. Could it be my fuel pump going out on me? Any other ideas would be appreciated.
you usually shift >4000 rpms? holy ****... do you get more than like 15 mpg?
at 3800 rpm's your 5/6th ports open, giving the engine more air/fuel.
I'd be checking both air and fuel. If you got a stock air box, check the filter or make sure you're getting enough air. other than that, could be fuel pump, clogged injectors, bad VDI, etc.

That's also when your secondary injectors take over, which is more than likely the source of your problem. Do some searches of the forum, and you'll probably find quite a bit of information from other people who have had the same problem.
Cheers!

Your oil metering pump has taken a dump. The car goes into what is euphemistically called *limp* mode when that happens.
Just FYI. Secondary injectors don't come on everytime you reach 3500rpm. If the car is under light load, the car can be driven over seventy mph with only the primary injectors working.
