Can you explain Auto Adjust Suspension?

Hey Y'all,

Can anyone here explain how the AAS system works?
I've looked over the shop manual and noted an "actuator". My '88 has the switch in the console, but I don't see an actuator where the drawings seem to indicate there should be one.
So, anybody have the details of this thing?

Thanks!

Well, if you read over your owners manual, there is a fairly good explination of how it works. It basically has anti-squat, anti-roll, and anti-dive characteristics that adjust to the force that is exerted on them. If you look underneath the rubber covers on the strut towers, there will be a silver-dollar sized gold actuator, which is what changes strut stiffness. IMO a good set of aftermarket springs/struts will be much better suited for performance driving.
