And why, especially when they are basically identical as the Kouki FC turbo units...

yeah it can be done. my imported FC Vert has FD Calipers, someone in Japan went to the trouble of putting them on (for no good reason since they are the same as S4 4-spot calipers anyway)

at least the word "Mazda" is written alot bigger on them!
that's gotta be worth 50RWHP.

I could've sworn they had different bolt spacing to allow for the larger rotors FD's have?

So am I to then infer from this that FD calipers do indeed share the exact same bolt spacing and offset to bolt right onto a FC disc/hub?

the only difference is the piston size. We were having a discussion about this not too long ago-- still have to test it-- but supposedly the FD caliper will bolt right on. May not clear stock wheels.

FC has great stopping power to begin with...but the significance of FD calipers working on an FC is that it opens up the possibility of aftermarket calipers for the FD working on the FC.

FD versus FC brake calipers are basically the same.
FD versus FC brake ROTORS are not the same - the FD rotors are larger diameter.
The FD larger diameter brake rotors will NOT bolt on without major custom work.

Just run upgrade brake pads on your FC - this will suffice for 99% of the owners out there.

that's only an increase of 20RWHP, you will need to paint them red for full effect.

A multi-stage ERECTOR SET style wing is also necessary to bring out the full 50HP.

FD and FC front brake calipers are nearly identical. The piston bore size is the SAME. It even has the same part number for a rebuild kit, therefor the piston seal "o" rings are the same therefore piston bores are the same. check here http://mazdatrix.com/j-1brake.htm Also, Hawk brake pads use same part number for FC and FD front shoes.
I see no gain in swapping calipers at all, no more claping force, and there both made of aluminum so no weight saved. As stated the disc are not the same, so any big brake kit for the FD will not work on the FC.
Like RETed said, some good pads (hawk, project u, ESC, etc.) and stainless lines are good for 99% of street and some road race FC's. These cars come with great brakes stock.

I'd reccommend just putting the FD calipers on the ae86 Save time, cuz they really arent that different, and its a waste to swap it on your FC

If the FC calipers fit the AE86 and
the FD calipers fit the FC

Then I dont see why the FD calipers wouldnt fit the AE86 if they all interchange.

Course I have no experience with it whatsoever, so hey, good luck
