can i just cut my ac belt?

can i just cut my ac belt?

hey i was just wondering if i could just cut my ac belt with no problems. since my ac is crap and i dont want it any ways. ill just remove it later if i can get rid of the belt. will it run better? thanks.

no, it will make no difference. The ac has a clutch on the pulley that only turns on when you turn it on in the car. If you're going to go to the trouble, just remove the whole thing. If you don't have ps, then removing the ac system is very easy. The only time consuming part is getting the freon drained, you can't do that yourself (well, you can, but you'll make a hole in the ozone over your house ).
So yes, you can cut the belt, but there will be no benefit.

I dont know for sure.. but i dont see why not. (I wouldn't CUT it. just incase you want it back on)

If it doesnt work...why would he put it back on...cutting the belt will hurt nothing.

Well seems like a waste of a belt... i mean .. you could use it inplace of a broken other one... or somthing..

Agreed, all you have to do is loosen the pully and snake it off around the fan blades...

May have to take the PS off first...i'm away from my car at the moment and don't remember...

It's seriously not difficult.

No ****. It would be easier to loosen it properly, so you dont have to worry about it whipping off and hitting you from the tension.

yep i just cut it. worked fine car runs better now. and it did not whip me in the face from the tension. LOL
