Can I get rid of this ground wire? (PIC)
I am going through and cleaning up the engine (battery/starter) harness. I am using a Haltech so do not need the OEM CAS wires. The CAS wires are a separate section in the engine harness and I would like to remove them completely. There is a ground wire that connects to the shielding for the CAS wires that ties into another connector. Can I depin and remove the black/white wire from the other connector without any ill effects? I am guessing that it comes from the stock ECU which I am not using but would rather be safe than sorry.

It does go into the other plug.I am not sure what the other plug is for off hand.I am not using the sock tps either.the connector in the pic is opposite the cas so I don't think it's the tps
first I would make sure you're not using what ever that connector plugs into. might be TPS, but be some weird emissions thing... (been a while since I've had a stock emissions harness)
If you're redoing the entire emissions harness which is sounds like you are, tear the whole thing out.

That wire going to the shielding does nothing but Catch EFI and take it to ground. The job of the shielding.
sort of like the "aluminum foil Alien Hat" theory.
It Protects the CAS from any interference.Since you do not need the wires, you can snip it.That ground will attach to something else, and BE grounded somewhere along the line anyways.
The reason that it goes to the sheilding is so the EFI can go to Ground and not compromise the CAS signal being transferred to the Ecu by the coated wires in the harness.

^What he said.
The haltech has a shielded wire(s) for the CAS. Then you can ground it out at the end of your choosing. Remember to only ground ONE end of the shielding.
