can I disable the "feature" that requires holding handle up when closing lockd doors?

this feature makes me cry.

has anyone figured out how to disable it?

it is a common feature to Japanese cars of the 60's-90's

It is so you don't accidentally lock your keys in the car.

You could remove the latch, and probably replace it with a 96 or later 626 latch assembly.

Though I am not sure why you would want too... I wish modern cars still did it.

My passenger door does it, my drivers does not. If I have time I'll pull 'em apart and tell you what the difference is.
