yes u can run in the motor while using the lt8, you're engine builder or tuner will have to load a rich fuel mixture onto the computer for the run in period though.

rich won't be a huge problem unless you run it horribly rich and it continues to foul plugs and carbon up the internals, lean can be a problem.... if you aren't sure how to tune the engine with the Microtech yet then it may be best to use the stock ECU to break it in as with the Microtech as the engine breaks in the settings will need to be changed unless you set things similar to stock maps for all around reliability.

When you purchase a brand new lt8 it is supposed to come with a "base map" for your particular engine, which is really close to the stock mazda excu mapping, just a little bit on the rich side. I think you should be fine, but hell I'm no expert...

Drive it conservatively (out of boost) until it is tuned.

that's how its meant to be driven in the run in period anyway

and yes the microtech should come with a base map for a 13b which is similar to the standard computer tune

Sure you can. Don't get side tracked on the fact that you are now running a standalone EMS In conjuntion with a fresh rebuild. Rizla+ Is bang on In his post. As stated In the Manual (as every other EMS for that matter) the base map Is provided to get your car running. Tuning should be Immediately followed after Installation.

The way you are asking to do It - Is exactly how I did It. At the time of my s5 TII conversion we wired up a LT8 with confidence. Since than I have zero complaints.

It's really a royal PITA and not recommended unless you really know what you're doing.

You're going to end up retuning the Microtech several times during break-in, as engine VE is changing.
If you don't do this, the car is going to run very poorly.
The final fuel map is going to end up drastically different than the map you started out with.
