Can this housing be fixed???

So I bought this housing and while cleaning it I noticed this spot on the mating face. It looks like the last owner took a drillbit or something to it. Im assuming it was actuallly from prying it off, but whatever. There is a can of WD40 next to the spot, so use that as a reference to how big the gouge is. My question is, can I repair it with JB Weld or anything? I dont want anything that will fail as I'm trying to build a reliable engine. I would like to fix it if possible because the actual housing is mint besides this. So what do you guys think???

JB weld will work fine. Remove the dirt and oxidation from the aluminum with sand paper and clean with acetone.

Ok, sweet. Thanks for the reply. Is jb weld the best stuff to fix it, or is there a better metal filler stuff that would do the job?

JB weld is the best metal filler for that repair. Don't use JB Quick. Get the normal long curing JB Weld. If you read the product information you will see that it can withstand 500F continuous. That part of the housing will not get nearly that hot. It probably wont be over 250F. Make sure you really clean the metal and remove the dirt and oils so the bond is strong.
