Besides, the OP already said that he couldn't start the car before he took it to the shop- so it wasn't "OK" when it went in- and implies that it was his idea to replace the clutch to solve the problem.
That means it wasn't even their diagnosis, they were simply following orders.

Gonna be a very tough sell in court but look at OJ...there's always hope, I suppose.
Yes, thank you, but I'm not a lawyer. Maybe I wasn't clear, but are you saying a clutch replacement is related to an engine showing up with low compression? What parts do you change that will affect compression? Do you really think nothing's amiss here? Yeah, look at OJ, there's hope.

Ok im glad I got the ansewer to the clutch question. That eliminates the wronge part theory i had.

As far as the **** happens/co-insidense (sp?) theory. I do not beleive in co-insidense. Yes occasionally it does work that way BUT what are the odds? the car has been running great all summer, hell it didn't even flood once on me I knew the clutch was going for a while as it would slip when i would give some gas but only once in a while so I waited till i saved up the money. About 1 1/2 months ago I noticed that when at lights with the clutch in, the idle would drop a few 100rpm. If i put it in neutral withe the clutch in the idle was at the normal spot. I had planned on taking it in two weeks before I did but they where on vacation. Thats about when i noticed that it felt like the starter was going out. That happen about 4 times with the last time being the time it wouldn't even turn over. Since I couldn't move the car or get under it safly where it was at I waited a few days to figure out my options. I wanted to check the starter myself so i wouldn't get the "oh you're starter is out and we should fix it" crap, but as I said, i couldn't. I had it towed and the rest is history.

I'm going to go down to the clutch shop on tues and talk to them. I don't expect anything to do anything for me but it doesn't hurt to ask.
I won't be taking them to court, there is no way to prove that it was anything onther then "**** happening" so i'm not going to add to the agrovation that i allready have.

OH and the look at OJ......there's always hope, school of thought.......In the long run it didn't really work out that well for him did it.

I reread your post half way through and saw that you thought that the hard to start had to do with the clutch. The clutch not disengaging will barely affect the startup or the engine at all... especially if you had tried shifting to neutral. In any way, a worn clutch would slip (the hydraulics and pressure plate are really what cause it to disengage.)

I agree with your synopsis that a rotor had failed. It could be possible that your engine was dying (hard to start) when you decided to take it to the shop... this is what happened to me, I couldn't pass emissions, figured it was probably a stuck injector (which it was) but the engine gave up when they tried it (and it was a shop that races rotaries.)
